The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has strongly refuted allegations by the Imo State Government that it is plotting a massive electricity outage in the state to sabotage the ongoing electricity project of the state government. In a press statement signed by its Group Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, issued on Sunday, EEDC described the claim issued by the Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba—as “baseless, unfounded, and completely devoid of truth.” The company urged customers and the general public to disregard the allegation, insisting it has “no intention whatsoever to carry out any major power outages in the state.” EEDC expressed disappointment over what it described as a deliberate act of propaganda by the Imo State Government, accusing it of attempting to divert public attention from its hostility towards EEDC’s operations.
