Frank Nweke declares for APGA, promises to help rebuild Enugu

  Nigeria’s Former Minister of Information and Communications, Frank Nweke II, has joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance with the intention to help reimagine and rebuild Enugu State. In a text of speech on joining the party on Thursday, in Enugu, Nweke said his reasons for joining APGA anchored on some core principles of the existence and purposes of government and political power, which depicts the party. He said, “The founding philosophy of APGA is anchored on the egalitarian principles of fairness, equity, justice, being our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, and giving everyone a sense of belonging, all of which are important components of the Igbo worldview.” According to him, parts of why governments exist is for the purpose of establishing order in society, based on laws to guide human, social-cultural, political and economic interactions. FORMER KATSINA ALGON CHAIRMAN, IBRAHIM DANKABA HEADS FOR THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The Former Chairman of Kaita Local Government Council and the Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria ALGON Katsina state Chapter Hon. Ibrahim Lawal Dankaba has purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to Contest for the position of Member of the House of Representatives for the Kaita-Jibia Federal Constituency under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. EKWUNIFE BEGINS DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL FURNITURE ACROSS ANAMBRA CENTRAL

  In making good her promise to provide education infrastructure to schools under Anambra Central Senatorial District, the Senator representing the zone, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, yesterday, March 11, 2022, commenced the distribution of furniture to selected schools. The distribution team arrived at Community Secondary School Isiagu and Central School Nise both in Awka South LGA with truck loads of furniture for distribution. They were received by excited teachers and students. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ekwunife who was represented by former PDP Woman Leader, Awka South LGA, Mrs Dora Oguocha stated that the gesture was in line with her commitment to upgrade education infrastructure to public schools under her jurisdiction. Breaking: Court sacks Ebonyi Gov, Umahi, deputy over unlawful defection to APC. I am still Governor- Umahi

  A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Ebonyi State Governor, Mr Dave Umahi, and his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, on account of their unlawful defection from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The court declared their defection unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void and ordered them to immediately vacate their offices. Justice Inyang Ekwo in a judgment on Tuesday ordered Umahi and his deputy to immediately stop holding themselves out as Governor and Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State. The judge held that the votes that brought them to office belonged to the PDP and cannot hold on to the votes having elected to jettison the party that nominated them. The court, therefore, ordered both Umahi and Igwe to immediately vacate their positions. It ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately receive from the PDP, names of persons to replace Umahi and his Deputy, or in the alternative, conduct a fresh gubernatorial election in

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ASKED TO ADDRESS ONGOING ABUSE OF BOOK REVIEW EXERCISE BY STATE EDUCATION MINISTRIES

The Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA) has expressed serious concern over the high cost of Book Review Exercises being carried out by the various States’ Ministry of Education and some Federal Government agencies in charge of educational curricula nationwide.  In a release by its President/Chairman in Council, Dr. Uchenna Cyril Anioke in Ibadan, the headquarters of  The Association,  the body frowned at the exorbitant rates book publishers have had to pay before their books could be reviewed for use in schools by all states’ Ministry of Education. According to the President,  book review exercise is a means of evaluating and assessing the quality and standard of  the educational materials to be used by pupils and students of any State devoid of revenue generation, adding that it provides teeming students with up-to-date books.  According to Anioke, members of the Association pay hugely for the exercise in recent years, citing that some states’ Ministry of Education see the exercise

International Women’s Day: ActionAid Nigeria Intensifies call for the Reconsideration of Rejected Gender Bills
