GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI GIVES SUCCOUR TO ENUGU CIVIL SERVANTS ON HOUSING

Enugu State Executive Council has approved the release of the sum of Thirty-Five Million Naira as ten percent equity contribution for the purchase of 100 units of one- bedroom flats for civil servants in the state civil service on grade level 01 to grade level 10 at Elim Estate,  Ibagwa Nike Enugu to alleviate their accommodation challenges. While briefing the Government House Press at the end of the council’s meeting presided over by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the Government House, Enugu, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Godwin Udeuhele noted that the beneficiaries of the housing scheme would emerge from a ballot system. UNICEF, ENUGU GOVT PARTNER TO FIGHT CHILD TRAFFICKING

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has commended UNICEF for her technical support to the state in some sectors of the state economy, especially in the area of war against child trafficking and all forms of child abuse. Governor Ugwuanyi speaking while he received in audience management members of UNICEF Enugu led by her Chief Field Officer, Charles Nzuki noted that the state has enjoyed strong relationship and partnership with UNICEF which he said had produced results particularly in the lives of children and women.   He added that such programmes have provided free education for children in primary and junior secondary schools, renovations of state primary and secondary schools, free maternal and child health care among others.   The state chief executive also observed that through the Ministry of Gender Affairs that the state has staged war against child trafficking and all forms of child abuse in the state.   Earlier in an address, the leader of the UNI

US TO TRACE NIGERIA’S STOLEN FUNDS

The United States will offer to help Nigeria’s new leader track down billions of dollars in stolen assets and increase US military assistance to fight Islamic militants, US officials said, as Washington seeks to reset ties with Africa’s biggest economy. The visit to Washington by President Muhammadu Buhari is viewed by the US administration as a chance to set the seal on improving ties since he won a March election, hailed as Nigeria’s first democratic power transition in decades. US cooperation with Buhari’s predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, had virtually ground to a halt over issues, including his refusal to investigate corruption and human rights abuses by the Nigerian military. THE DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT, SENATOR IKE EKWEREMADU CALLS FOR PEACE AS MUSLIMS CONCLUDE RAMADAN FAST

The Deputy President of the Senate , Senator Ike Ekweremadu has congratulated the Muslim Umah on the successful conclusion of the Ramadan Fast. This was contained in an Eid-El Fitri message to the Muslim Umah and signed by Uche Anichukwu, Special Adviser, Media to Deputy President of the Senate. Senator Ekweremadu urged the Muslim Umah to carry the lessons and virtues of love, tolerance, and perseverance imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan into every aspect of their daily lives in order to move the nation forward. The Deputy President of the Senate also noted that Nigeria would be a better place if the political class closed ranks and made necessary sacrifices in the interest of the country.                                        While also wishing the Muslim Umah a hitch-free celebration, Senator Ekweremadu called on them and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and development of Nigeria .

NO ROOM FOR FAILURE, GOVERNOR UGWUANYI CHARGES COMMISSIONERS, ADVISERS

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  of Enugu State has charged the new commissioners and special advisers sworn in on Thursday in Enugu to brace up for a service to the people of the state where no failure would be given any place. The governor who addressed the new appointees at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Enugu declared to the new appointees that there is no room for failure in this administration and drew ovation from the crowd that thronged the council chambers. Twenty four commissioners and eleven special advisers appointed by the governor took oath of office amidst fanfare as the people of the state who had been anxious to have them in place came out in their numbers to herald in the new helmsmen and women. PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI FIRES NIMASA BOSS

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday terminated the appointment of Patrick Akpobolokemi as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency , NIMASA . Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina , announced the sacking in a statement made available to journalists. Adesina , however, did not give reason for the decision which he said took immediate effect. He said Akpobolokemi would hand over the management of NIMASA and all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who will remain in charge until a new Director-General is appointed.
