Abba Kyari, Buhari's Chief of Staff dies of Covid 19

Late Abba Kyari The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, is dead. His age is unclear at this time. Kyari died of coronavirus. He received treatment at a private hospital in Lagos. His death was announced by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, early Saturday. “Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon,” Adesina wrote. Adesina later sent a short statement to another media platform, saying, “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.  The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020. May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.” Kyari had on March 23 tested positive to the novel coronavirus. *BREAKING NEWS* : ENUGU DISCHARGES ONE COVID-19 PATIENT.

The Enugu State Ministry of Health says it has discharged one patient from Treatment and Isolation for COVID 19. Recall that the NCDC had announced two cases of COVID 19 in Enugu that have been in Isolation and receiving care. The state of these two had continued raise questions by the public since the 14 day period had elapsed. But the new State Commissioner for Health, Emmanuel Obi in a press statement on Wednesday has cleared the air noting that one of the two that tested positive for Corona Virus is now Negative and has been discharged.  Obi however said that the other person is stable and responding very well to treatment. He encouraged all persons to continue to stay home, maintain hand and respiratory hygiene, wear a facemask in line with the NCDC's advisory and maintain physical distancing. Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, NCDC is yet to update its database to reflect this positive development which is coming to the people of Enugu

EEDC URGES CUSTOMERS TO PAY THEIR ENERGY BILLS

The Management of Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has urged its customers to go ahead and pay their energy bills to enable the company serve them better. According to the company, electricity bill for the month of April, which is for energy consumed in March, has been dispatched to customers. Also, as part of the organisation’s effort in contending the COVID-19 Pandemic, by promoting physical distancing in its operations, some customers had their bills delivered to them electronically through SMS. This was made known by the Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, during a chat with newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday. COVID-19: I didn’t dare govt, police over closure of churches in Enugu – Archbishop Chukwuma

Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province (Anglican Communion) and Bishop of Enugu Anglican Diocese, Most. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has denied media reports alleging that he said that “the Province will not shut any of its branches over Coronovirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic”. Addressing newsmen at the Government House, Enugu after a closed-meeting with Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmad AbdurRahman, Archbishop Chukwuma, disclosed that he was “very embarrassed to read the story in the newspaper and new media”, stressing that the story was untrue and misleading. The Archbishop, therefore, stated categorically that he did not dare the government or the security agencies as was erroneously reported. He said: “All I said was that the church is not the building and that the church is the people praying; and people who are church members cannot be shut down in praying in their various homes”.

NCC clears doubts over 5G, COVID-19 and Security

In view of the recent development in which misleading materials with no proven evidence being circulated to link CORONAVIRUS or COVID-19 with 5G Technology,  it has become imperative for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to provide the following clarifications; Firstly, there is no correlation between 5G Technology and COVID-19. 5G is an advancement on today's 4G technology designed to transform the world positively.  Secondly, there is no deployment of 5G in Nigeria at the moment. The NCC back in November 2019 approved trial test for 5G for a period of three (3) months and that the trial has been concluded and installation decommissioned.  The trial among others was to study and observe  any health or security challenges the 5G network might present. *RAINSTORM DESTROYS ELECTRICITY INSTALLATIONS WITHIN EEDC NETWORK*

The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has attributed the loss of supply currently being experienced in parts of its network to the heavy rain/windstorm which occurred yesterday and early this morning. The company expressed that the situation which led to loss of several High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) poles, aluminum conductors as well as other line accessories, resulted to power outage on most of its 33KV and 11KV feeders. This development was contained in a release issued today in Enugu by the Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh. According to Ezeh, the heavy storm which occurred yesterday in Enugu and Anambra States, and in the early hours of today at Imo and Abia States respectively, destroyed electrical installations within the affected states, but mostly in Enugu State. “As a result of this, some of our feeders are out on fault, and this has led to loss of electricity supply to our customers in the affected areas”. Enugu State Government on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, in furtherance of its sustained efforts to strengthen all the proactive safety measures earlier instituted as well as the capacity of the State Health Care System to contain the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, among other milestone achievements, approved the use of the ultra-modern Enugu State Medical Diagnostic Centre as additional COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Centre.
