On Friday, March 27, 2020 the government of Enugu State announced through its ministry of health the confirmation that two patients who presented on their own to the State’s health facility tested POSITIVE to Corona Virus (COVID-19) We thank the state government immensely for this update. It is important to note that so far, this is the first State in the South East Region of Nigeria with confirmed positive case(s) of CODIV-19. There is therefore need for the prevention of a further spread of this virus both within Enugu State and other South Eastern States. Breaking News! COVID-19: Enugu govt closes all borders, markets

The Enugu State Government has ordered the closure of all land borders and inter-state transportation in the state till further notice, with effect from 6pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, except those on medical emergency services. In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, the state government also ordered the closure of all markets in the state, “no matter the size, till further notice, with effect from 6pm on Tuesday, the 31st day of March, 2020”. BREAKING: Enugu Govt bans weddings, burial ceremonies, civil servants to work from home

          Amid prevention of the spread of the trending Coronavirus dubbed as COVID-19, Enugu State Government, has on Tuesday, banned all forms of social and political gathering. This comes as the threat of coronavirus continues to worsen globally. The ban was announced by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the State during a state-wide broadcast. Included in the ban are marriage and burial ceremonies, as well as all forms of political gatherings. According to him, all educational institutions in the State stand closed, till further notice except health workers, forest guards, neighbourhood watch personnel, water corporation staff, waste management operatives, staff of Enugu State Emergency Management Agency, Fire fighters and all those involved in essential services. ENUGU POLICE ARREST ONE KIDNAPPER, RESCUES 13 VICTIMS

The Enugu State Police Command says following intelligence gathered, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command, CP Ahmad Abdurrahman, detailed a team of Police Operatives of the "Puff Adder" Operation of the Command, who traced a gang of kidnappers conveying 13 kidnap victims in a Toyota Hiase bus with Reg. No. MSA 657 XA.  According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe Ekea, on sighting the Operatives along Enugu-Markurdi highway, the kidnappers diverted and disappeared into Akomagbo Ubgaike Community in Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State.  At about 1300hrs, the resilient Operatives further traced them to their hideout in the house of one Chidi Ogbonna (also known as "Egbe") in the said Akomagbo Ubgaike Community in Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State, where they were holding the victims hostage.
