Beta Nigeria insists on better funding for the education sector

  The need for every child, as a citizen of Nigeria to get better education was the focus of a roundtable meeting which held in Abuja on Thursday.   The organizer, Beta Nigeria Campaign,   a growing movement with a drive towards improving education outcomes has called for better and increased funding of the education sector.   The roundtable which attracted stakeholders from the civil society, the media and others from government and private sector is targeted at amplifying the demand for education reform, which is seen as a critical investment in Nigeria’s future stability and prosperity.   The National Lead of Beta Nigeria, Abdulsalam Badamasi says the organisation will keep engaging government at various levels towards ensuring that the challenge of out of school children is completely addressed in the country.   According to Badamasi, issues around mental health and disability is one that they will continue to fight for to ensure there is inclusiveness.   “The

Military Declares Eight Wanted Over Murder Of Soldiers

  The Defence Headquarters has declared eight persons wanted over their roles in the recent killing of 17 military personnel in Delta State. The military released the list on Thursday at a briefing in Abuja. Those declared wanted are Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Akevwru Daniel Omotegbo (Aka Amagben), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukeywe, Reuben Baru, and Igoli Ebi. During the briefing, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, called on Nigerians especially residents of Delta and adjoining states to assist the military with credible information that would lead to the arrest of eight persons allegedly responsible for the killing of seventeen soldiers in Okuama community in Delta State. General Buba says the military remains determined to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous act in Delta State, reaffirming its commitment to rescue all kidnapped and abducted victims in Nigeria. This phase proved there is public interest in the initiative and its potential to revitalise the Nigerian education system. FG Insists No Ransom Paid For Kaduna Schoolchildren’s Release

Nigerian Foreign Affairs Commiserates with the Russia on the tragic attack in Moscow

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has  conveyed Nigeria's deepest condolences to the people and Government of the Russian Federation on the tragic attack carried out at the Crocus Concert Hall in Moscow that resulted in the death of innocent people and injuries to more than a hundred others. Tuggar said the Government and people of Nigeria mourn with the family of the victims of the attack and pray for the repose of their souls. Simon Ekpa, amongst people declared wanted by Defence Head Quarters

  The Defence Headquarters has declared that no fewer than 97 persons are wanted. The wanted persons include terrorists and insurgents, among others, who are behind violent crimes in the country. They also include a factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Simon Ekpa. The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.Gen. Edward Buba released the names and pictures of those declared wanted on Friday. Our correspondent had last week exclusively reported that the military high command was planning to declare some terrorists wanted. Unlike in November 2022, when the military declared no fewer than 19 bandit leaders wanted with a bounty of N5m on each of them to encourage Nigerians to volunteer information that could lead to their arrest, this time around, no bounty was placed on the 97 persons declared wanted. The killing of Military personnel in Okuama, a national tragedy -Tuggar

  The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has described the killing of soldiers in Okuama Community in Delta State as a national tragedy.  He condemned the killing of the military personnel, during a visit by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, who led a delegation of top military brass to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday morning.    In a statement issued by the SA Media and Communications Strategy to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Alkasim Abdulkadir, Amb. Tuggar also used the occasion to condole President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the Defence Headquarters and the dependents of the deceased soldiers.   He prayed for the repose of their souls and asked the Almighty Lord to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
