Maybe we thought it would go away on its own and allowed it eat deep into our football system like cancer in the body. Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Monday swore in Miss Joy Ezechikamnayo as the first one day Governor of Abia State. The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Enugu State Council, has honoured Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State with an outstanding Award of Excellence as “A Pensioner-friendly Governor”. The pensioners said that the honour done Gov. Ugwuanyi was in recognition of his good works in the state and uncommon leadership qualities, which they added have enabled his administration to pay their monthly pensions promptly in spite of the nation’s economic challenges that have made it impossible for many state governments to pay workers’ salaries, “not to talk of retirees’ pensions”. BREAKING: Appeal Court orders Saraki to face trial on three charges

  The Court of Appeal in Abuja  on Tuesday   dismissed 15 out of the 18 counts of false assets declaration instituted against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.   The three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson unanimously ordered  the Senate President to return to the CCT to face trial on three of the counts.    

FG Directs Teaching Hospitals to Treat Obstetric Fistula Free of Charge

By Martins Ifijeh The Federal Ministry of Health has directed all teaching hospitals in Nigeria to embark on fistula repairs free of charge as part of efforts to reduce the backlog of the number of women living with the health condition, the Country Project Manager, Fistula Care Plus, Chief Iyeme Efem has said. Stating this during a two day Media Roundtable Discussion on Fistula Intervention in Lagos yesterday, he said the directive by the federal government to the tertiary hospitals in the country will help in increasing the number of fistula repairs from 5,000 to 12,920 every year. According to him, “Nigeria currently has a backlog of between 150,000 to 200,000 Nigerian women living with obstetric fistula in the country, with 12,000 new cases added every year. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has stressed the need to boost oil palm production in the country and restore its position as a prime income earner.
