  Governor Okezie Ikpeazu I watched the widely circulating video made by one Dr Kenneth who goes with the alias of “Liborous Oshoma Gcfr” and my initial thought was that the child who did not attend his father’s burial will always exhume him from the legs. Since then I’ve called and discussed with the maker of the video on the issues raised, lack of balance and perspective in his material. We agreed to do a joint physical review on the state of road infrastructure in the State before and during the Ikpeazu-led administration as well as the administration’s  going forward plan to do more in the midst of obvious financial challenges.  While we wait for the joint physical review, it is important that I respond to some of the issues raised, especially for the sake of those who may have been sucked in by the seemingly persuasive presentation of Liborous without due consideration for sacred facts. EEDC CAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE OUTBREAK AND BUSH BURNING, AS THE HARMATTAN SEASON SETS IN

  The Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) has cautioned her customers as well as the general public against indiscriminate bush burning and acts capable of causing fire outbreak, as the harmattan season sets in. This call was made by the Head, Corporate Commission, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh, during a chat with some newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday. “Fire outbreaks have been identified as one of the common risks facing EEDC, especially during the harmattan season”.   The Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to reopen the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and the remaining international air facilities to international flight operations. Mysterious Deaths In Delta Linked To Yellow Fever, Govt Confirms 22 Killed

The Delta State government has conducted some tests to ascertain the mysterious deaths recorded in Ute-Okpu and Idumesa communities in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state. According to the Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Mordi Ononye, the results of the tests carried out have come back positive for Yellow Fever disease. He made the disclosure on Friday while briefing reporters in Asaba, the state capital. Ononye confirmed that as of noon on Friday, 22 deaths have been recorded with seven active cases receiving treatments in hospitals across the state. He, however, noted that the state health authorities await authentication of the government’s position from the Regional Test Centre in Dakar, Senegal within a period of one month.

NEWS Flash: Governor Ikpeazu scraps “Pandemic Prevention fee” in ABSU

  Rising from a recent Press Release attributed to Abia State University, Uturu requesting that students pay a certain amount spent by the institution on fumigation and other Covid 19 prevention procedures, the Visitor of the University and the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has cancelled the payment.  In the release, the school demanded that the students pay the sum of N15,000 in what  it tagged “Pandemic Prevention Fee”.  Governor Ikpeazu while rising to ocassion swiftly scrapped the said amount in a town hall meeting with the students and management of the state University.  However, Governor Ikpeazu authorized the payment of  N30,000 pocket money to Abia students in the institution to help cushion the effects of Covid19 on the students and their families.
