A word first created by The Simpsons has been added to the dictionary.

The word embiggen - which means to 'make bigger or expand' - is one of 850 new words to be added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
The word was first used in a 1996 episode of the cartoon titled Lisa the Iconoclast and also features as Springfield's town motto: "A noble spirt embiggens the smallest man."

It's not the first word from the iconic TV show to feature in the dictionary -
Merriam-Webster has already added Homer Simpson's catchphrase D'oh to its list .
