In a statement to newsmen, Amb. Nweke praised Engr. Anike for his leadership in launching a series of impactful empowerment programs that have significantly improved the lives of many in the community. Through his efforts, numerous individuals, particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups, have benefited from skill acquisition programs, small business grants, and other forms of capacity building. These initiatives, she noted, were in direct alignment with the goals of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's administration to foster human capital development in the state.
Amb. Nweke, who also serves as the Founder and President of the Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET), emphasized the importance of these empowerment programs in providing sustainable opportunities for growth and development. “The recent empowerment initiatives spearheaded by the Chairman of Enugu East LGA have created pathways for individuals to better themselves, support their families, and contribute positively to society,” she said. “This is a step in the right direction for building a more prosperous Enugu.”
In addition to commending Engr. Anike's efforts, Amb. Nweke also extended her praise to the Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State for their collective resolve to tackle the issue of open defecation. She strongly supported their joint commitment to end open defecation across the state by December 2025, a decision that she believes will drastically improve public health, sanitation, and the overall quality of life for citizens.
“The move to end open defecation by December 2025 is a commendable step towards improving the public health standards of our state,” Amb. Nweke said. “This initiative will go a long way in creating a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone in Enugu. It is crucial that we continue to work together, raise awareness, and ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support this goal.”
Amb. Nweke also took the opportunity to commend Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his visionary leadership, which has laid the foundation for the local councils to adopt and implement progressive policies such as these. She acknowledged the Governor’s efforts in making human capital development a cornerstone of his administration, noting that his leadership serves as a guiding light for the local government chairmen to follow.
“Governor Mbah’s leadership has been exemplary,” Amb. Nweke said. “His vision for a prosperous and self-sustaining Enugu State is evident in the empowerment programs, the push to end open defecation, and other key initiatives that are aimed at improving the welfare of the people. His direction has paved the way for local government chairmen to follow suit.”
Amb. Nweke concluded by reaffirming her commitment to supporting the initiatives of the Enugu State Government and local councils, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, health, sanitation, and human capital development. As the founder of WOSCONET, she remains dedicated to empowering women and young people, believing that their success is essential to the progress of the state.
Amb. Nweke’s dedication to the betterment of Enugu State, alongside her ongoing efforts to support women and youth, continues to make her a key figure in the advancement of human capital development in the region.
