Barrister Peter Aja recognizes Indigents; Speaks on Aninri Local Govt’s Leadership

 


Senior Special Assistant to Enugu state Governor on Transport, Barrister Peter Aja has celebrated New Year with the indigent people in his community, Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area, Enugu state, Nigeria.

Barrister Aja who advised beneficiaries of the gesture to remain prayerful, and supportive to the good leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, hinted that a lot of positive policies should be borrowed from Enugu state government and domesticated in Aninri Local Government Area.

In his interview with newsmen, Barrister Aja said “with the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Chairman of Aninri LG, and the hope of a new Administration, we expect that the Local Government will be returned to the people, an Administration that will work for the generality of the people of Aninri. A Chairman that recognises the position as a social contract, and places our priorities right”.

“The Chairman must recognise that the primary duty of any government is protection of life and property, and always take responsibility for every vandalism or security breaches within the area especially when the State govt has provided additional security formations like forest guards, neighborhood watch, community Police”.




Aja further revealed key expectations and 10-demands of the people of Aninri Local Government Area from the Incoming Local Government Chairman in the council.

“The incoming Chairman should among other things initiate and ensure from the first month of his tenure:
1. That Aninri is restored to the National grid. Never again should my people celebrate Xmas without light.
2. That the face and mercy of God is sort and His glory restored.
3. That our health facilities under the LG, be made functional again.
4. That liaises with relevant bodies to raise the educational facilities and standard in our area.
5. That encourages and rewards excellence and not mediocrity in our LG.
6. That restores in a better standard our transport system ‘Aninri mass transit’
7. That recognises the agricultural potentials and its economic advantages to our people.
8. That will pride in the number of youths exposed for greater achievements in sports and other areas of human endeavor.
9. That respects our traditional institutions and improve on our cultural heritage.
10. That creates an environment that attracts potential investors etc”.

He added “My people cannot afford another disappointing leadership, it will be devastating”.

He expressed hope that “God will not allow it, He will use His Excellency, Rt.Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the God fearing governor of Enugu State to ensure that the dreams of the majority of Aninri people are guaranteed”.

However, one of the women who benefited from the Yuletide gifts from the SSA Transport, Mrs. Adene Chukwu while appreciating Barrister Peter Aja appealed to government at all levels to make life easier for those living in the rural areas.

“For remembering us in this critical time, God will also remember you, bless and Protect you and your family as well as everyone around you”.
