*ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND COVID-19 ENFORCEMENT UPDATES* *BORDER CLOSURE: CP LEADS HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES ON INSPECTION TOUR, WARNS PERSONNEL TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND SHUN CORRUPTION*


The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, on Tuesday led a team of Heads of Security Agencies in the State to inspect the level of compliance and enforcement of the  border closure order at Enugu/Benue and Enugu/Ebonyi States borders. 

He charged Security Personnel manning the borders to take the enforcement duty very serious and shun corruption and other unprofessional acts, which have disciplinary consequences and capable of jeopardizing the aim of the border closure.

Addressing the Personnel at Amalla/Orokam border point between Enugu and Benue States, the Commissioner frowned at the allegations of compromise and complicity for pecuniary reasons leveled against them and made it categorically clear that anyone found wanting will face severe disciplinary sanctions. 

AbdurRahman charged them to be guided by the stipulated rules of engagement and perform the enforcement duty with the fear of God Almighty, professionally and resist all forms of corrupt practices.

In a statement issued by ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, who was on a similar inspection tour of the border, commended and charged security personnel at the border to remain resolute and see their duty in these trying times as an extra sacrifice they have to make to the nation and humanity. 

Ortom also enjoined Nigerians to be compliant with the containment orders, noting that they serve as some of the best ways of curbing the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

At the Amechi-Idodo/Nkalagu border point between Enugu and Ebonyi States, the Commissioner, tasked the Security Operatives, including those NSCDC, the DSS, the Police and Personnel of the Enugu State Forest Guards to maintain utmost professionalism, shun corruption and see themselves as one family working collaboratively to achieve the common goal of protecting lives and curbing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus. 







According to the CP, “when you perform this duty conscientiously, with dedication, the fear of God and without discrimination on the basis of tribe and religion as well as resist corruption, we will all succeed in this fight against the pandemic.”

Heads of Security Agencies in the tour included Brig. Gen. C. A. Ataki, Garrison Commander, 82 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Air Commodore C. O. Obiabaka, Commander, 553 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Airforce, Enugu; Samuel Olofu, State Director of DSS; and Everestus Obiyo, Commandant of the NSCDC, Enugu State.

APC SUPPORT GROUP CAUTIONS RECALLED ENVOYS TO DESIST FROM EMBARRASSING THE NIGERIAN GOVT.

A Coalition of All Progressives Congress, APC, support groups, on Thursday, cautioned recalled envoys and ambassadors to stop denting the country's image abroad. The groups issued the warning during a press conference in Abuja. They accused some of the envoys, particularly the Ambassador to Zambia, of sponsoring spurious media campaigns against the Federal Government and the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
