A chieftain of the Young Progressives Party , YPP, Prince Ozioma Ani, has said that bright minds should be allowed to go to the hallowed chambers of the legislative houses not dullards and misfits.
Ani who spoke yesterday during his declaration to contest for the seat of Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, said that the positions as sensitive as that of law and policy making should be manned by the very best and "brightest minds and not for the daft."
“We are currently witnessing an era where the elected and selected representatives get into power with no clear cut agenda and no timelines. It has been a cycle of the worst ruling the best, rather than the best leading the rest. This is the Nigeria of our present reality,” he lamented.
The aspirant regretted that the responsibility for the creation of laws and molding the fabric of the nation has been relegated to those who have no ideology, no verve to truly serve, no understanding or sympathies with the problems of their immediate constituencies.
Ani said that Nigeria of today is totally out of shape and this was not a Nigeria ‘our heroes past labored for’, stressing that things under this generation have gone from the bad to worse and to near irredeemable.
He said that he was in the race to initiate a paradigm shift in leadership and governance if elected.
“It is my hope that as I step unto the political scene, many more of our brightest and best will arise to heed our nation’s clarion call to contest for elective offices, win the elections, and most importantly collectively deliver good governance to our people."
His words: “I believe that 2019 presents my generation with the opportunity, a window to bend the arc of time and point out collective nationhood towards a brighter dispensation.
