UNICEF, UNESCO TO ESTABLISH E-LIBRARY IN ENUGU
UNICEF Country representative in Nigeria, Ms Jean Gough, who gave the hint yesterday in Enugu assured that her agency will liaise with UNESCO to establish an e- library in the State in furtherance of the global body’s disposition to sustainable learning The promise followed on the heels of a passionate appeal made by
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi while addressing a retreat by the country team of The United Nations held at Nike Lake Hotel, Enugu.
The governor declared the retreat open. The governor observed that the state was honored by the presence of the UN family made up of all the specialized agencies of the body.

He noted that the state is a mother and child friendly state and has continued to maintain a free child and maternal care programme which has been running in the state for the past eight years.
The child right bill, he revealed, is currently before the House of Assembly and will soon be passed into law. He also noted that the state maintains a sexual assault Reference centre that offers assistance to victims of every form of sexual offences particularly on women and young girls.
The governor recalled that last month Enugu State organized an economic summit where it showcased the investment opportunities in the state to the world, with a view to persuading them to bring their businesses to the state and thereby help to increase its wealth base, noting that the state has since then continued to receive encouraging responses from potential investor.
He thanked the global agency for deciding to hold the retreat in Enugu, assuring that in spite of the recent Nimbo attack, Enugu state remains one of the safest states in the country.
