GOVERNOR UGWUANYI OF ENUGU STATE MOVES TO RESCUE STAGNATED GRADUATE CASUAL WORKERS AT IMT
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state yesterday came to the rescue of some grieving 20 graduate casual workers of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu who have been receiving N10,000 monthly salary each since 2005.
They had broken down in tears as the governor paid an unscheduled
visit to the institution yesterday, telling the governor that since they had remained under that condition in agony, the system had continued to employ fresh graduates, leaving their (protesting workers) request for upgrade unattended to .

The workers alleged that they had “been working as casual workers in the school since 2005 as graduates on this small salary”
According to them, IMT had during the period under review continued to employ workers and placed them on appropriate grade levels but would consider them(complainants) for such employment, their cognate experience notwithstanding. They called on the governor to come to their rescue.
And in his characteristic manner, Governor Ugwuanyi who could not hide
his sympathy for them immediately directed that their names be
compiled for remediation .

He told the rector of the institution, Prof. M.U. Iloeje, to forward the names to his office through his chief of staff.
The governor also affirmed the determination of his administration to put smiles on the faces of the IMT community, and he drew loud ovations from the students who praised him for taking the bold steps to come and see things for himself in the institution.
The president student union of the school, Paul Nnaji used the occasion of the governor’s visit to the school to enumerate some challenges facing the school as, poor medical facilities, poor class accommodation and hostel facilities among others.
He also appealed to the governor to reduce the student’s fees which he said many families could no longer afford.
