Enugu delivering federal projects through Renewed Hope Agenda

Image
By Chukwunonye Okereke In a political environment often tainted by partisan exclusion,  President Bola Tinubu’s  Renewed Hope Agenda has become a refreshing departure—delivering transformative federal projects to every corner of the nation, irrespective of party lines. Today, Enugu State is a living example of that philosophy, with massive infrastructural and healthcare interventions underway—federal projects of huge scale in a state controlled by the opposition PDP. In the forefront of this transformation is the 350-metre, N23.5 billion, 23-span flyover at Eke Obinagu, Emene, and major interchange at Abakpa Junction—two landmark constructions to decongest notorious traffic hotspots, boost commercial activity, and open economic corridors for Ndi Enugu and Southeast.   These are not token gestures but serious, capital-intensive interventions to permanently reshape the region’s economic and urban landscape. The reality is stark: These are 100 per cent federal undertakings, ...

Imo Govt Bans Nursery, JSS 3 Graduation Parties

The Imo State Government has banned graduation parties for nursery, kindergarten, and Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) students, citing concerns over the financial burden these celebrations place on parents. The directive, issued in a memo dated August 15, 2025, and signed by Commissioner for Education Prof. Bernard Ikegwuoha, stated that only pupils completing Primary 6 and students graduating from Senior Secondary School (SSS 3) are now permitted to hold graduation ceremonies, in line with Nigeria’s 6-3-3-4 education system. Prof. Ikegwuoha emphasized that the decision was made after evaluating the extravagant nature of such events at lower school levels, which often strain families financially. He highlighted that graduation should mark academic milestones rather than fuel unnecessary financial competition. “This policy aims to reduce needless expenses and ensure the focus remains on meaningful academic achievements at the end of primary and secondary cycles”, he explained.
