Governor Ugwuanyi Reaffirms Commitment to grass-root development


Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reiterated his administration’s resolve to give priority attention to rural development where majority of the people reside.

Addressing members of a delegation from Mburubu, Nkanu East local government area of the state who were at the Government House, Enugu on a thank you visit, Governor Ugwuanyi disclosed that his administration has identified some local council areas for intervention due to peculiar challenges of dearth of infrastructure like in the case of  Nkanu East, Awgu and Uzo-Uwani areas.

The governor told members of the delegation led by the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Enugu, Mr. Patrick Onuh, that the decision to concentrate development in the rural areas became imperative because there were urgent need to uplift the level of development at the grassroots. 

He urged them to continue to offer special prayers for improvement in the revenue of the state so that government will be able to attend to their needs, adding that it was as a result of lack of link road network from Amechi Idodo to Amagunze, the headquarter of Nkanu East Local Government Area that his administration decided to reconstruct the all important  Inyaba bridge in the area.

The governor who enjoined the people of the area to remain committed and support his administration to succeed, assured them that in spite of the economic hardship, the government would continue to attend to their needs.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Patrick Onuh, said that they were in Government House, Enugu to show appreciation to His Excellency for appointing one of their sons Engr. D.C. Chukwu, SSA on ICT, stressing that Mburubu community since its history in the state had not had it so good.

He explained that the kind gesture would go a long way to break the chain of age long marginalization meted on the people by past administrations in the state.

In their separate interviews, the SSA on ICT, Engr. D.C. Chukwu and the Chairman Nkanu East Transitional Caretaker Committee, Mr. Ubagu Godwin, thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his laudable programmes and policies to the people including the appointment of some of their sons and daughters into a position of authority in his government.

APC SUPPORT GROUP CAUTIONS RECALLED ENVOYS TO DESIST FROM EMBARRASSING THE NIGERIAN GOVT.

A Coalition of All Progressives Congress, APC, support groups, on Thursday, cautioned recalled envoys and ambassadors to stop denting the country's image abroad. The groups issued the warning during a press conference in Abuja. They accused some of the envoys, particularly the Ambassador to Zambia, of sponsoring spurious media campaigns against the Federal Government and the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
